Generating Network Marketing leads is a specialised field of business. It is similar to generating leads for a traditional business except you are not just looking for a walk-in-retail customer, you are hoping to find someone who is interested in joining in you in your business and that they will like it enough to tell others about it too.
Pizza stores that offer home delivery, generate customers by the millions by simply flooding neighbourhoods with flyers and newspaper ads. This activity generates customers and by its sheer millions of copies delivered with the weekly news paper seem to make a difference between success and failure in that business model. In my neighbourhood there are at least 7 serious contenders for the top pizza advertising spot and I am quite sure that each of these store fronts pizzerias serve some really good pizza. But good pizza is not enough to succeed. It helps of course, but it is simply not enough. The problem they face is every week as a new opportunity to, and as some would say a new requirement to, resell their product to the neighbourhood because their competitors are trying to replace them.
Network Marketers try to do something much more sophisticated and different. They want to find a customer or new distributor once and then help them launch their own businesses so they continue the process of reaching out to new people. This is different from a local pizza franchise or independent shops, because they are focused on the mass advertising market. Network Marketers are offering products they believe (or at least hope) are so good that they expect their customers to spread the good word. Kind of like if Saturday night during the first period intermission, after eating a slice of that hot pizza you just had delivered you just cannot help yourself and knock on your neighbour’s door and tell them about it, how wonderful it tastes, how fast it was delivered and how they can get a pie by the second intermission for themselves.
A lot of people will tell you in their MLM training that when your join your Network Marketing business your first task is to make a list of everybody you know, and when you are done that flip through the yellow pages for ideas on people you forgot the first time. This is not necessarily a bad strategy except that it is limited to who you know and how much time you have.
The bottom line most people find out really quickly is that even if their list is 300 people it is far too small to build a successful Network Marketing business. 300 people as customers would be really outstanding but still not enough to find lots of new distributors for a large downline by themselves. If you really want to break into the continual expanding never ending list of people to tell about your business you have to get referrals from satisfied customers. Ideally these referrals are not people that you have to call neither. What you want is for your list to generate new customers and eventually distributors that they now approach their list. You never stop looking and telling of course, but real growth starts when others whom you have told start telling others themselves.
Let me say that again because it is extremely poorly understood. The idea is not to expand your list as a never ending resource like a pizza shop. It is to help your new distributors you found with your list reach theirs, using their budget, their time and their phone, email and tools.
If a Network Market in business like my Tahitian Noni Juice business is going to really grow large it has to grow large by me finding a few people that can find a few people that can find a few people they know that I don’t. If readership of my blog is going to grow large it has to have others telling the people they know about and suggesting that they need to read it.
There is no substitute for having something simple you can tell people about the coolness of your products, how they help with this or that, but what will always get a prospects’ attention is if you are succeeding in growing a business. Success Sells!
The main issue people have with Network Marketing as a business model is not the products. A lot of companies think that to succeed their products have to be the best, most effective, unique that anybody has ever heard of. This is simply not true at all.
What these companies need are small independent distributors experiencing enough success that when they tell their story it inspires people to join them. Once they have joined continue that simple effort telling their list of people no matter how small that they are experiencing success. It is success that recruits new distributors not products because people join people not companies.
You may never heard of my company or its products, but if you know me, trust me enough to believe me that I having success and you could use some success for a change you will join.
This is why companies that rely on solely products, no matter how good usually fail very quickly. It also explains why companies who focus on their distributor success and even if they have a limited line of products can rise to the top of the market very quickly. Network Marketers sell success not products.
If you remember that simple truth you will spend your time more wisely approaching your list however small and this small list will generate for you a never ending supply of new people to talk to through the people you sponsor.
